How Will the Olympics Inspire Us Next?

After seeing history made during the 2012 Summer Olympics, we are all excited for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, launching February 6th*, where we are already seeing history made once again. Olympic Inspiration Though it’s a bit cold to be contemplating beach volleyball, when it comes to teamwork, I can’t help but think of Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor and how they inspired us in 2012. These two embodied teamwork, winning the Gold in the last three consecutive summer Olympic games. One of the things that I appreciated most about their story is that they were dedicated communicators - talking strategy during warm ups and after each match, learning from each other and proactively anticipating each other’s every move on the court. These are all values that we incorporate into the fabric of how we operate at Edge – communicating at a high level, fine tuning our work to continuously push boundaries and improve, and proactively anticipating what is next and being ready for it. Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor have shown us the importance of having fun outside of the game as well. These two remarkable women made a true commitment to their relationship, not only as teammates, but as friends. We operate with that same mentality at Edge. We are intentional and authentic in our relationships, which is one of the reasons why we’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with our clients for such a long time. At Edge, we make a priority of cultivating strong relationships, not only with each other but with our clients, partners and vendors. This approach finds us in a unique place – as noted recently by one of our vendors:
“You need to know not all agency people are kind to work with. It is such a pleasure to have a collaborative attitude and the success of the client as the priority. Most of the time its ego, demands and positioning on both sides of the fence. Honestly, that gets in the way of the clients goals. You are the best and I want you to know I’m grateful to be on your team.”
We always refer to ourselves as the Edge Team. We work hard and we work together towards a common goal – our client’s success. Together, we embrace the spirit that unites all Olympians – the determination to do your best work both individually and as a collaboration of team effort. That said, Go Team USA! We can’t wait to see how you’ll inspire us next. *Competition begins on Feb. 6th, the opening ceremony will be held on Friday, Feb. 7th.
