Women of Influence – Find Your Voice

Published April 18, 2013

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Women of Influence luncheon in Portland, Oregon - celebrating and honoring 25 leaders in the business community that have achieved significant accomplishments in business and outstanding service to the community. Four top honorees were awarded in the categories of large business, small and medium business, non profit and entrepreneur.

Women of Influence Awards Luncheon - Honorees On Stage

Portland Business Journal Web Editor, Suzanne Stevens led an inspiring panel discussion with the four top honorees, sharing their insight on success, being mentors and of course - being a woman in an executive leadership position in the business community.

"Find your voice."

As a woman executive, I especially enjoyed the opportunity to chat personally with Large Company winner, Sue Hennessy with Kaiser Permanente NW and Entrepreneur of the Year Kristin Luck of Decipher, Inc. These women and the other amazing women that they shared honors with have made amazing strides both in their careers and in the community.

Sue said something that stood out to me during the panel discussion... she learned that she needed to share her voice...she was once too quiet in a board meeting early on in her career as a Vice President - and she was confronted about it...and told "we need your voice". She now mentors young women and encourages them to "find your voice".

It was my pleasure to share in honoring all of the Women of Influence award honorees.

Congrats to all!
